Frequently asked questions about holiday entitlement
Spanish labor law (Estatuto de los Trabajadores, art. 38) establishes a minimum of 30 natural days or 22 working days of paid annual leave. Collective agreements may grant more days but never fewer.
Yes. If you start mid-year, your holiday entitlement is proportional to the months worked. For example, if you start on July 1, you are entitled to approximately 11 working days for the remainder of the year.
Holidays cannot generally be replaced by financial compensation, they must be taken. However, when employment ends (resignation, dismissal, contract end), any untaken holiday days must be paid as part of the finiquito.
