Frequently asked questions about annual accounts
Annual accounts are the set of financial statements that Spanish companies must file with the Companies Registry (Registro Mercantil) each year. They include the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, notes to the financial statements (memoria) and, for larger companies, the management report and cash flow statement.
Annual accounts must be approved by the shareholders within six months of the fiscal year end and filed at the Registro Mercantil within one month of approval. For companies with a December year-end, this means approval by 30 June and filing by 30 July.
